For disinfecting wound injuries
PVP-iodine is a proven antiseptic, i.e. a germicidal agent that inhibits the spread of bacteria and fungi. PVP-iodine AL is used for superficial wounds and burns, bacterial skin infections, and damaged skin, for example for decubitus (bedsores, also known as pressure ulcers) or ulcus cruris (open legs). The disinfecting effect of PVP-iodine prevents skin infections.

Proven active ingredient
Iodine is a long-known antiseptic active ingredient. Povidone-iodine is an iodine depot that releases the iodine it contains slowly and over a long period of time after it is applied to the skin. In the pH range of 2-7, a disinfecting effect develops: the released iodine reacts with the surface of most known bacteria, as well as with numerous viruses, fungi and other pathogens, thereby killing them. This is how the antiseptic effect comes about. There is no need to fear specific primary resistance to povidone-iodine or the development of secondary resistance with long-term use.
